There comes a time when a woman decides to be extravagant. She throws caution to the wind and splurges on a little luxury. My most recent
excuse reason to treat myself caused my first YSL purchase in the form of Rouge Volupte Shine No. 16 Orange Impertinent.
Owning YSL was not a choice I made lightly. I am embarrassed to admit the number of times I swatched this summer red in store. And I’ve completely lost count of the number of comparison shades I swatched along side before deciding Orange Impertinent was the one for me.
The formula of Orange Impertinent is lightweight with coverage that is buildable to medium. It is not nearly as opaque as Tarte Glamazon Lipstick in Timeless, though the colors are near identical. And while I originally expected the Rouge Volupte Shine finish to be similar to NARS Velvet Gloss pencils, YSL has much more color payoff. The shine doesn’t last the duration of the lipstick’s wear time, which is 3-4 hours, but it does stay put through talking and drinking and leaves an even stain on my lips. Many lipsticks stain only the outer rims of my lips so I’m very pleased with Rouge Volupte Shine.
And now for the price. How can I not comment on the price? At this time I don’t plan to collect every YSL lipstick or even keep the line in mind for seasonal shades. I am simply too fickle when it comes to my makeup to justify spending so much. I will, however, include the range when I look for classic every day shades that never go out of style.
Price: $34.00 each
Summary: YSL Rouge Volupte Shine Lipstick is a plush formula that works especially well for dry lips. It is lightweight, staining, and comfortable for wear. While the cost is high, the luxurious packaging and feel on the lips are worth splurging for the right shade. Orange Impertinent is a gorgeous color that is especially appropriate for summer.
