Since I’ve been a whole lot of exhausted lately (thanks to children coughing overnight, my daughter’s night terrors, and, when everyone else is sleeping well, my own racing mind), I thought I would share how I get my skin looking like I had a perfect 8 hours of sleep followed by lounging in bed with a magazine and freshly made vegetable juice before starting my day (because we all know that hasn’t once happened in my life).
Cleanse This admittedly changes on a daily basis depending on how my skin feels in the morning. I finally gave in and bought the First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads and use them when my skin feels balanced and nourished. They are convenient and do a great job of treating my skin and removing any access oils, but I don’t know that they will replace my beloved NARS Multi Action Hydrating Toner. Procrast1nator suggested using toner without a cotton round and I’m hooked! But let’s get back on topic…
Because it is winter and my skin, while balanced, is bordering on dry I wanted to share the First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser. It is creamy, lightly foams, and doesn’t leave my skin feeling stripped or parched. I quite enjoy it and it is suitable for sensitive skin. My skin can take a beating when it comes to exfoliants and chemical treatments, but lately I’ve been of the mindset that if I don’t need to do it, why bother? Gentle for the win!
SPF Yes, I know it’s winter. But you all know how I feel about my SPF (and eye cream). Supergoop! Skin Soothing Mineral Sunscreen with Broad Spectrum SPF 40 has converted me to separating my SPF and my moisturizer. I can actually get away with using just the SPF as it is nourishing enough for my skin. It also calms inflammation, and again is suitable for sensitive skin. Plus, no Oxybenzone so consider me hooked!
Moisturizer When I received Eve Lom TLC Radiance Cream I was concerned it wouldn’t work for me. My skin is neither mature nor needs super-hydrators. I was surprised not only to learn that Radiance Cream is a perfect pick-me-up, but it also hydrates at the right level. I use slightly more than a pea-sized amount and massage it into my skin after SPF.
Eye Cream Day and night…every day! I harp on this one, but twice recently I was mistaken for being a college student. Hooray? I am a very big fan of Eve Lom Eye Cream. It is hydrating, firming, and reduces inflammation. Bonus points for being a thin consistency that soaks easily into the skin. No tugging, and it wears well under concealer. My only other criteria is that it must be usable all the way around the eye. Do you know how some eye creams have you waking up with crusty eyes? Yeah. That’s because they are only meant for your undereyes. Read those labels, people! I don’t have any issues with Eve Lom and can load it up when the weather is extra harsh without irritating my eyes.
De-puff Not one for eye bags, I’ve never needed to keep something on hand for the dreaded puffy undereyes. Until now. Luckily, I took the advice of world-renowned makeup artists James Vincent and David Stella at The Makeup Show Orlando and bought Embryolisse Radiant Eye. It is cooling and very refreshing. I use it all the way around my orbital bone and really appreciate how makeup applies over the top. Some cooling eye products are gels that are more sticky than anything. And while I unfortunately don’t find Radiant Eye hydrating enough to wear on its own under NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer (a product that requires lots of moisturizer for smooth application), it does prep the eye area well for other more creamy concealers. And, it is an excellent finishing touch for those early mornings after far too late nights.
