Urban Decay Naked 2 Review and Swatches

Alright, alright, so I’m a few years behind.  What can I say?  The Naked eyeshadow palettes by Urban Decay just never caught my eye until now.  I can only assume my nonchalance had something to do with the shimmer, metallic, and glitter finishes.  I was a matte girl.  A satin finish girl.  But now?  Bring it on.

Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette

While the original Naked palette still doesn’t get me excited, Naked 2 makes my eyes pop.  Probably due to the packaging.  I love a good, clean, sturdy palette and Naked 2 fits the bill.  I’m still trying to find my way around the dual-ended brush.  The loose buffing side works well.  The flat shader end?  Other than lining my lower lashline, I’m not finding much use for it.  The teeny tiny Naked Lip Junkie is a nice touch and I enjoy its glossy effect.

As Urban Decay says, the palette includes “taupe and greige neutrals.”  I’m lovin’ ’em.  Chopper is the only shade I experience fall-out from but I give the brush a good tap just in case before any of the eyeshadows.  When applied with a brush I get much softer pigmentation that is easy to build.  With exception to Blackout, they are all smooth and easy to work with.

Urban Decay Naked 2 LookNaked 2 is a smoky eye dream.  Foxy and Tease are the matte shades offered and work well as a quick wash of base color for easier blending.

Urban Decay Naked 2 ProfileThe colors blend seamlessly and with minimal effort.  As with all other eyeshadows, I prefer them over a primer for extra grip.

As much as I’m enjoying Naked 2, I have an unprecedented excitement over the rose and purple-tones of Naked 3.  I foresee the newest Naked installment making its way to me ASAP.

I love this palette so much! It looks amazing on you!! Between all of the Nakeds I think the original one is my all-time favorite but I certainly can’t wait for Naked 3 to see what it is like too! :)

I think the original is pretty, but I’m such a freak when it comes to dirty packaging. I don’t know if I could handle the velvet-ish palette.

woohoo! congrats on your Naked2. I was late to the party as well. But all in all I think this palette suits me better than the other 2. would love to see you do more looks with it in the future. PS I also thought that brush was useless at first, but I learned the fluffy end is a good blender and the flat end for using with cream shadow pots. Kinda bummed that I won’t be getting another one since I am skipping Naked3.

I’ll have to try the flat brush with creams. Great idea! I was kind of hoping it would be ideal with this palette. Still trying to make it work. It almost seems like the dirtier it gets, the better it works? Hmm…

LOL I keep washing mine- maybe I shouldn’t be? The other thing I do with the fluffy side is angle it sideways to sweep away shadow fallout. Perfect for cleanup! Took me forever to figure out any uses for it at all. But for sure you need more than this one brush for this palette.

Just learned the flat end works amazingly wet :)

These shadows look beautiful on you! And you can never be too late to the Naked palette game. My favorite is the original Naked, since I love warm eyeshadows. I don’t know how I feel about Naked3 yet, I really want to see it in person.

Seeing Naked 3 in person (mine came in today, and I just posted a look!) is super helpful. Way different than I expected, but even better than I imagined ;)

I have 1 and 2 and I never use either. 3 looks great, but then I guess I thought the same when I saw 1 and 2, since I ended up owning them! I must try this look you’ve made, though, it’s stunning. More!!

Glad you enjoy it :) I’m trying to buy less for awhile so there should be less reviews in a while. Which means more looks <3

I think you’d love the original Naked if you could get past the velvet/cardboard packaging! The warmer colors would be amazing on you! I’ve had mine for several years, and even though I’ve traveled with it several times, it still looks pretty perfect. I think if you take care of your makeup (I know you do!), you wouldn’t have a creepy-looking palette even after years and much love. :) I love the look of Naked2 on you as well, and can’t wait to see what you do with 3! I am super excited to see you rockin’ the purples!

I might have to psych myself up over time and eventually purchase Naked. It feels kind of wrong to not own the original now that I have the other two!
