Tarte LipSurgence Lip Luster in Achiote Review and Swatches

I spent a year wanting Tarte LipSurgence Lip Luster in Achiote.  I wanted the matching blush as well but was unable to get my hands on it this summer so I settled for only having the gorgeous shade as a lip color.Tarte LipSurgence Lip Luster Achiote Packaging

A balance of red and pink with a sheerness that leaves the color far from overpowering, Achiote makes a great choice for warm weather but easily works during all four seasons.

Tarte Lipsurgence Lip Luster Achiote Swatch

Achiote’s formula is as moist and comfortable as the other LipSurgences I’ve tried.  While the shade is shimmery, it doesn’t have a gritty feel.

This lives-in-my-handbag color is ideal for anyone who likes soft color or hydrating lip products that are also very portable.  Achiote is a great alternative to soft pinks or nudes and the depth of the color, while not bold, makes it a great transition shade between summer and fall.

I’ve recently worn Achiote with medium brown eyeshadows but plan to wear it with jewel-tones next.  What is your favorite lip product at the moment?

Price: $24.00

Summary: A great shade for daily wear, Tarte LipSurgence Lip Luster in Achiote is an easy choice to carry in a handbag.  It is comfortable, applies quickly, and can be used from casual to more formal wear.  The sheerness let’s it work alone or over a colored lip liner.

This looks beautiful on you! I love that the color is a little different. I’m just using MAC creamsheen glass in Just Superb right now (its one of my favorites).

What are you wearing it with? Just Superb is right in the same family as Sonia Kashuk Pinky Beige that I’m loving with the smoky eye looks I’m sporting lately. Have you seen that one yet?

      • Natalie

I wear it with anything, but it does look especially nice with a smokey eye. I haven’t seen the Sonia Kashuk one yet, I’ll have to scope out my Target (like I needed more reasons to go).

This looks like such a great daily shade on you! I love it! I tried one LipSurgence 2 years ago and while I liked it, I couldn’t stand the mint flavor/scent. Are they all minty or was it just the type I tried? It was Hope, which is part of the matte range.

They are all minty. I don’t find it as intense as something like Buxom glosses, but it’s more than subtle. Are you more of a vanilla lip product kind of girl or unscented altogether?

I am a total weirdo about mint! One of my favorite candies is Wint-O-Green Breath Savers, so you’d think I’d love it in lip products! Mint is literally the only flavor I don’t like in lip stuff. Give me fruity, vanilla, florals, or unscented and I’m golden! :)
