Sonia Kashuk Undetectable Foundation Stick in Fawn and Tawny Review and Swatches

PR Samples

Beauty products in stick form have become so popular over the last year.  Primers, foundations, concealers, blushes, even lip crayons are compact and convenient ways to beautify your day.  Among these, I think foundation is the most important because it takes an otherwise high-maintenance product and makes it totally handbag friendly.

Sonia Kashuk Undetectable Stick Foundation Fawn and Tawny

Sonia Kashuk recently launched the Undetectable Foundation Stick which goes hand in hand with the Undetectable Creme Bronzer.  A barely-there feel with light coverage, it’s like wearing a second skin. But slightly better.  There is a glowy satin finish from the creme that creates the healthy appearance we all crave.

The color range runs from Alabaster to Chestnut with eight shades and while this is not as extensive as some other brands, I am thrilled to see the darker end of the spectrum is gaining more shades.  Fawn and Tawny are in the darker half of all the shades and Fawn is a very close match to my current skin tone.  Because the coverage is light, having a shade not match my undertone exactly is hardly noticeable, if it all.

To apply I run the foundation over my skin focusing on the inner area of my face.  I then use a buffing brush to smooth the surface and make the foundation seamless.  I prefer a mattifying primer and good setting powder to increase the wear time of the foundation which is otherwise at 3 hours on my oily nose.  Good thing it’s so easy to carry with me and to reapply!  Speaking of touching up, I don’t find the creamy product caking up and it’s easy to blend with a finger while I’m out.

The “after” photo shows foundation over my undereye circles.  I did this to demonstrate the level of coverage that Undetectable Foundation Stick provides but would not recommend applying there under concealer as the foundation does crease.  I also require concealer over any blemishes and around my nose.  In those areas I don’t have any trouble layering the two.

Summary: Sonia Kashuk Undetectable Foundation Stick is a quick product to apply, buff in, and toss in your bag for low coverage days.  The packaging is sturdy and the cap clicks solidly in place so I don’t mind keeping it in my handbag.  I recommend it for natural looking skin on combination to dry skin types.  It’s an easy favorite for low-key days or no-makeup makeup looks.

It’s great that the product comes in a tube instead of a messy bottle.

That makes it so much faster and easier!

I totally went to purchase this point and was so thrown off by the shades on the packaging and had no idea how to choose my color. I think SK products suffer at the hands of terrible Target lighting, AND they don’t show the actual color of the product inside. I ended up purchasing the Perfecting Luminous foundation because there were fewer shades and picking the right one felt more straightforward. But I’d like to go back for the stick at some point!

Yes yes yes, Erin! Target keeps the price in check, but makes it soooo difficult to pick shades. Any time you need a shade rec, try emailing the brand. Sometimes it takes awhile to hear back, but they are great about offering advice. In all honesty, I prefer the Perfecting Luminous foundation. Better coverage and stays put longer. BUT there is nothing quite like convenience from a stick :)

That’s a great tip, I hadn’t considered contacting the brand! I really like the Perfecting Luminous foundation too, but the lightest shade is still a bit dark for me in the winter (but should be better in warmer months).

I really like foundation sticks. I like this one on you.

If I remember correctly, you have drier skin. So this might be a good fit for you. I don’t have a CF statement from them, so you’d need to email them first, but definitely check it out :)
