During a recent trip to Ulta, tucked away on a back end cap in the drugstore makeup section, I came across something that has me more excited than I’ve been in a long time…organic makeup! Finding affordable organic makeup and skin care in local stores proves to be difficult. But the Australian brand Nvey Eco is now available at Ulta. For more about the brand’s history, take a look at their website.
One of the very first items that caught my eye was 170 Black Gold Eyeshadow. A grey that even works with warm skin with flecks of gold that provide a soft sheen across the lid.
The color needs to be built for intensity (as swatched above) but is well worth the effort and I don’t experience fall-out. The shade appears almost olive and is the ideal texture and level of pigmentation to create a one-shadow smoky eye. For faster intensity, it can be applied wet (as seen below). A wet brush does not leave wet marks on the surface of the shadow.
A black eyeliner was used above in the lashline and lightly smudged upward before applying 170 black gold (wet) all over the lid. It was then buffed into the crease (dry). No other shadows were used. Nvey Eco eyeshadow doesn’t crease on my lids, despite the fact that I have natural folds in my skin even when my eyes are closed. It stays put and the finish lasts throughout the day.
I anticipate giving 170 Black Gold plenty of use this fall. It is a quick and easy way to get the smoky eye I’ve been craving but can be built lightly to wear during the day. As it can be worn wet, I’m also looking forward to using it as a liner.
Summary: Nvey Eco Eyeshadow in 170 Black Gold is a very versatile product that will work on any skin tone and can be worn wet or dry. I recommend it for anyone who enjoys eyeshadow with dimension and multiple tones in one product. The base of the shadow is a warm grey and the sheen is gold.
