Finally. I finally own NYX eyeshadows. Not just one shade, but six in the form of The Smokey Eye Shadow Palette and it’s the perfect way to try out a variety of smokey eye looks. As a POPSUGARSelect blogger, I received the Fall Must Have Box and so far love everything I’ve tried from it. Spoiler Alert: I IG’d the contents of my box.
The shades included are all classics for creating a smokey eye and can be paired in any number of ways.
There is a charcoal with silver shimmer, warm black, purple, navy, satin-finish bronzed taupe, and a white. While none of the shades are matte, the satin finish of the black, purple, and blue is very subtle.
The moderate pigmentation of the eyeshadows is what makes it especially easy on beginners. The colors don’t come off dry and patchy, but they also aren’t crazy intense right from the start. They build and blend easily.
A basic smokey eye can be created with the bronze all over the lid and crease, white at the inner corner and black at the outer corner. Add a soft shimmering rose blush and NYX Butter Gloss in Eclair. Tightlining with a gray eyeliner brings more definition to the lashline without making the eye look heavier.
To take the look one step further, use the purple eyeshadow on the outer 2/3 of the lid and the bronze under the lower lashline. Switch to a matte natural colored blush and warm shimmering natural lip color. Also add a second coat of mascara and the gray eyeliner to the waterline.
And to really make a statement, keep adding drama. Buff more the purple shade into the outer crease. Add the glittery charcoal to the outer 1/2 of the lid and the navy under the lower lashline. Apply a third coat of mascara, fill the lips with a deep matte berry lip color and dab a berry gloss on the center of the lips.
I could go on and on, but I think you see my point! With manicure-friendly packaging and a low price point, this little palette by NYX makes fall smokey eyes easy. Which look will you be sporting this fall?
Price: $6.99 – $7.50
Summary: NYX The Smokey Shadow Palette offers affordable versatility for fall. The packaging doesn’t feel particularly sturdy, but it is reasonable for the price and doesn’t chip a manicure. At just over $1.00 per color, the quality of the eyeshadows makes this palette a steal.
