The swatches and review of my Sonia Kashuk haul with the new fall 2012 goodies has to be split into two posts. There is so much to show you and so much gorgeous that I couldn’t imagine putting it all in one place. I thought I’d start you off with the Sonia Kashuk Satin Luxe Lip Colors in Rosette, Currant, and Plum Wine. They are available exclusively at Target for $9.99 each.
Here are my bare lips for reference. As always, click any picture for a close up.
Sneak peak arm swatches before the real thing:
(Rosette / Currant / Plum Wine)
Last month I was searching for the perfect red-pink blend and got close a couple of times with swatches, but the color never came out right on my lips so I decided to halt my search until next spring or summer. I was very excited to see the September issue of Allure listing Sonia Kashuk Satin Luxe Lip Color in Rosette as one of their picks for the raspberry lip trend this fall. I previously toyed with the idea of buying it, but now I had an excuse!
When the Satin Luxe line came out last spring, I knew Currant was going to be a shade I bought for fall. I love the reddish-brown mix that doesn’t come off looking too 90s. Currant reminds me of NARS Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil in More (swatch and FOTD) — the colors themselves are not similar, but they fall into the category of red and orange-tinged shades that just scream fall.
And then there is Plum Wine. Ooohh mmyyyyy. (Did you read that with a deep Barry White voice?) Plum Wine is the newest addition to the Sonia Kashuk Satin Luxe lip line and was released for fall 2012. It is a true plum – a little bit of red, a little bit of purple – and walks that fine line between sexy vamp and wash-me-out goth like no other. If you like a little more brown to your vampy lip, Jessica of Getting Cheeky and Larie of Eye Heart It both look stunning in Giorgio Armani Plum 609.
I now own six of the fifteen Satin Luxe shades, and all six are nourishing, highly pigmented, and unbelievably light-weight. As though that’s not enough, the formula includes anti-aging properties, is paraben-free, cruelty-free, and has SPF 16 (more info here). What’s not to love?
I’m dying to have enough sunlight to get some FOTD posts up. There’s been too much rain lately to get any decent pictures. Some day I’ll perfect indoor lighting for those shots. Until then, feel free to anxiously await!
