If there was an award for the most under-hyped beauty product of 2015, it would go to NARS Velvet Shadow Sticks. They don’t have nearly the presence in the beauty community that they should and they are easily one of my top products of last year.

Back to Front: Aigle Noir, Oaxaca, Goddess, Reykjavic

When these first came out, I went to my local Nordstrom to browse. One of the artists had drawn the first initial of a few brands in their respective shadow pencils. She demo’d a few similar shades. The Velvet Shadow sticks were swatched in the shape of hearts and the pigmentation and smoothness blew the other brands out of the water.

That day I bought Reykjavic because it has the most versatility. It’s matte, so texture can be added with shimmer or it can be worn alone. It works brilliantly under any medium or deep eyeshadow, including browns.

Then NARS sent me Aigle Noir (a previous favorite…try it with Habanero duo, you won’t regret it!) and Goddess, which hasn’t gotten enough love from me. But I do really love it at the inner corner.

And in Vegas this past August, I went to my first NARS boutique. The NARS Fall 2015 collection had just been released and I needed Oaxaca. I hemmed and hawed while my little sister waited patiently, but we both knew from the start Oaxaca was a no brainer. Of all the Velvet Shadow Sticks, this is my most easily recommended shade. Oaxaca works brilliant alone, sheers out with a fluffy shadow brush for the easiest of makeup days, and adds gorgeous dimension to any eyeshadow worn over the top.

I love the versatility and the crease-free lasting power of all four shades. NARS Eye Paints are also favorites of mine, but sometimes I can’t be bothered to muck up a brush and paint my lid. Twisting and applying the Shadow Sticks is super easy and takes almost no time at all, which is the goal to my makeup lately!

Go check these out for sure – you won’t be disappointed!
