NARS has taken their already awesome lip gloss and revamped it into something better.  With new packaging and a new formula, there are seven new shades and twenty three classics.  Surely there is something for everyone!

I’ve been testing four of the thirty shades and am hard-pressed to choose a favorite.  All four shades are listed as being sheer on the NARS website, but they pack a lot more pigment than many glosses from other brands.  The sheerest of the bunch is Rose Gitane and the most opaque (almost like a liquid lipstick!) is Dolce Vita.  What I really love about the level of color from each is how easy it is to build.  I can apply a tiny amount for a hint of color (most useful with Turkish Delight below for more wearability next to my skin tone) or an extra layer for fuller and shinier color (like with Rose Gitane below).

All four of these shades are super comfortable and they leave my lips feeling hydrated even after the gloss is worn off.  Many products dry out my sensitive lips so I’m more than happy to have the extra moisture.  While not at the level of an actual balm, my lips are left smooth and full.

As far as the new packaging… I love the precision doe-foot applicator (my favorite) and the chic redesign.  The crystal clear tube makes it much easier to see the detail of each gloss and the logo on the cap/wand mimics the rest of the line for all of us who are a bit neurotic appreciate symmetry.

Summary: With a selection of thirty shades, a mix of creme and sparkle finishes, a hydrating formula, and sleek new packaging, the NARS Lip Glosses are tough to beat.  This lipstick lover approves of the moderate pigmentation that lets these glosses work alone or over lip color.

I am so excited about this reformulation; I have Nars glosses I have repurchased up to 3 times over the years despite the odour and sucky packaging. Fortunately they are mostly running low, so I’ll eventually go for the new ones. My can’t live withouts are Stolen Kisses and Risky Business, I also like Orgasm (gloss but NOT blush), Oasis (not reformulated alas) and Coup de coeur (?sp?!!). I have, but probably will not relaces, Sweet Dreams,Belize, Chihuahua and Supervixen. My others are the Larger than Life ones.

You are the second one to tell me about Risky Business. Clearly I need to check this one out ;) Don’t you just love the packaging redesign? So chic!

Risky Business is like a BFF gloss. Always there to help play up a lipstick, or darken a too-light lip color just enough to give your lips a full, pouty dose of bam! I really need you to get Salamanca. I command thee! LOL! It is such an Alison shade! I am in love. Hope to get swatch photos and reviews of both of these up this w/e. I’m hoping there will be time! This is the last weekend before the wedding and I really want to spend it doing NON-WEDDING things like blogging, enjoying the company of my mate and fam, and possibly rewatching Breaking Bad season 1. :D Livin’ the dream! Rose Gitane and Dolce Vita are super perfect Alicakes shades, btw!

Dolce Vita is almost a lipstick. L-O-V-E. Rose Gitane is super pretty too. You’re right, they are so me!
