Ladies and gentlemen, I still find myself inspired by The Makeup Show in November. (Have you checked the dates for 2015 yet??) The NARS presentation this year demonstrated bold color with a smoky eye featuring NARS Single Eyeshadow in Persia. While Mekong and Fez were also used, I opted for an alternative I am sure you will all love as I used a lot of Mekong over recent months.
NARS Cordura has a warm copper-bronze and (to use the well-suited NARS description) “sooty” dark brown. Both shades make gorgeous every day neutrals outside the realm of your every day beige, taupe, and chocolate brown. Add Persia to the mix and you’re ready for anything.
I opted for a peek of color with Persia and two lip options to show the different appearance this smoky eye can take.
Begin with a small semi-fluffy eyeshadow brush and blend NARS Eye Paint in Baalbek (a total 2014 favorite) on the mobile lid, avoiding a small crescent shape at the center along the upper lashlines. Do not take Baalbek into the crease (check out the technique). Add NYX Cottage Cheese Jumbo Eye Pencil to the bare center of the lids and lightly tap with a finger to blend.
Blend Madrague Eyeshadow Duo II into the crease and Madrague I over the brow bone. Line upper and lower waterlines with Via Veneto Eyeliner. Top Baalbek with Cordura II and blend lightly into the crease working upward and outward for a cat eye effect. Run Cordura II under the lower lashes, mimicking the upper lashline. Tap Persia over the white cream shadow with a smudge brush and run the leftovers along the center of the lower lashline.
Finish the face with Laguna bronzer, Deep Throat blush, and your favorite nude or bright red lip combo. Try Honolulu Honey Lipstick with Gold Digger Lip Gloss at the center or line the lips with Nihiwatu Velvet Lip Liner before applying Heat Wave Semi Matte Lipstick
It has been far too long since I experimented with color, but I feel like I am running out of color groups to explore. What would you like to see next?
