Pigments are new to me and only recently made it to my “to be conquered” beauty product list.  I have a thing with messy products so the idea of loose sparkly powders flying around are quite the turn off. But when I learned they can be applied wet, I knew I had found a solution that could work for me.

When swatched dry, I was immediately struck but the opacity of Liquid Gold.  It looks liquid!  The other shades looked like standard – albeit sparkly – eyeshadows and I certainly made a mess trying to get each shade in place.

What I got really excited about was the heavy swatching with a wet brush.  Now this is what I was looking for…metallic with a wet finish!  I was a bit surprised that Kryptonite didn’t come off bolder or with a blacker base, but I’m still pleased with the uniqueness of the color.

I’ve mostly played around with Afterglow as an inner corner highlight.  Talk about brightening!  If you’ve ever wanted to test the pigment waters, try one of Makeup Geek’s beige-y champagne shades like New Year’s Eve, Sweet Dreams, or Afterglow.

For this look I am wearing Makeup Geek eyeshadows:  Peach Smoothie on the inner 1/2 of the lid and the brow bone, Crème Brulee in the crease, and Cosmopolitan on the mobile lid.  Then I used a wet brush to pat Birthday Wishes pigment onto my lid and a smaller wet brush to run Afterglow along the very inner part of my upper lids.  I deepened the outer 1/3 of my lids with NARS Bengali and blended upward before lining my upper lashes with NYX Liquid Brown Eyeliner.  The result was a very sparkly inner corner with an illuminated appearance to my lids.

The warmth of these shades makes me want a piping hot latte and a pair of jeans.  Who’s ready for fall?!

On another note, this was day one after my haircut and I had to refresh my beachy waves.  I am kind of impressed that my hair wound up photograph-able (it’s a word!).  Halfway through the day I straightened my hair, because research.  I hadn’t seen it straight yet and I was going crazy wanting to know what my hair actually looks like now.  This cut is workin’ for me and I hope it will inspire me to get some tutorials going.

Talk to me… what are you wearing lately?  Anything new you’ve tried in beauty?
