I recently placed my second Makeup Geek eyeshadow order and am already wanting more because the quality and value is tough to beat. My first order of ten eyeshadows had more fall themed shades. This time I opted for spring tones. My palette is now about 2/3 full and the color selection makes me makeup hungry.
There is something addicting about filling a palette with custom chosen colors. It’s also a great way to round out an already expansive eyeshadow collection. Choosing unique colors or another taupe that is just a bit cooler than the last one purchased doesn’t hurt as much at this price tag.
Makeup has taken a backseat lately between spring break and house improvements. So as much fun as these are to play with, I’ve been wearing one look repeatedly.
As always, I started with an eyeshadow primer. Then I loaded a flat eyeshadow brush with Purely Naked and patted it from my lashline through the crease. Using a pencil brush I drew an angled line with Drama Queen that started at the center of my lashline and worked up and out. I started a second line from the outer point of the first and drew it 1/4 of the way through my crease to make a V. When the line was bold enough, I buffed out the color. This particular shape elongates the appearance of the eye. I highlighted the inner corners and my browbones with Shimma Shimma. I didn’t get this shade with my first order because I don’t like to buy into hype, but Shimma Shimma really is a phenomenal brightening shade. To finish off the look, I used a dark purple eyeliner at the upper and lower lashlines.
I’m feeling inspired by color so be on the look out for colorful eyeshadow looks this spring. I’m hope to use Shimmermint as a lower lashline color next, but can’t settle on which other shades to use with it. What are some of your favorite Makeup Geek eyeshadows?
