Looking for a Muse

After spending a week in a makeup rut, I wanted to switch things up.  I needed a muse.  Lucky for me I recently bought Hourglass Femme Rouge Velvet in Muse so I had an easy place to start.

I actually applied NYX Nude Lip Liner followed by Hourglass Muse before beginning any of my other makeup.  This is typical when I’m feeling inspired by one particular product – apply the muse first and let it influence all my other choices.  I liked the way the red tones played with my navy shirt so I moved on to the eyes next and chose neutral colors.

I used Too Face Shadow Insurance and a sweeping of Paula Dorf Eye Color in Wet Sand to create a base from lashes to brows.  Then I began building NARS Galapagos onto my mobile lids and buffing it out in the crease.  Build, build, build.  A touch of NARS Coconut Grove went in the outer corners for more depth.  Then I lined my upper lashlines with Physicians Formula Eye Booster Liquid Eyeliner and my lower waterlines with NARS Rue Bonaparte.  For mascara I chose Trish McEvoy Dramatic Lash Mascara.

Contouring has been different for me lately and I’ve been opting for NARS Contour Blush in Olympia under my cheekbones with a dusting of bronzer above and at the top of my forehead.  I’m trying to hunt down a taupe-ish contour powder to play with that won’t make my skin look ashy.  Olympia is working a as a rosy option, but has anyone had luck with very warm skin and taupes?  Let me know what you like!  Back to this look… I had a tough time choosing a blush.  I wanted the look to remain vibrant for summer, but I didn’t want to distract from Muse.  That’s it hit me and I blended Becca Beach Tint in Dragonfruit onto my cheeks.  I finished the look with a sweep of Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Radiant Light all over.

Wow, what a beautiful and classic look! I now have the serious lemmings for Nars Galapagos in single form: I only have it in palettes and we all know the singles are better.
I enjoy a very, very light touch of Kevyn Aucoin the Sculpting Powder in Medium (which hilariously is the only shade) for contouring when I bother.
And just today I was inspired by Tom Ford Flamingo lipstick :). I paired it with the Chanel Raffinement eye quad and a very light dusting of Becca Flowerchild blush in Gypsy in the end.

Galapagos is sooo worth the single. Ever try applying it wet? Magical ;)

I’ve heard amazing things about KASP, but was always worried it would bee too ashy. So worth checking it out since it works on you. And any product named Flamingo is okay by me!

This is absolutely gorgeous! I LOVE the gradient on your eyes! I really like Radiant light myself too! Have you tried the Kevin Aucoin sculpting powder for contour? and what about Paloma from Nars as a contour shade?

So. Much. Blending. :) I need to find KA in store and check out his Sculpting Powder. You’re the second person to rec so I need to see it! You know…I like NARS Olympia so much I never thought to compare to Paloma. I’ll have to do that, thanks!

I’ve been really inspired by Bite Beauty lipstick in Rose lately. Its bright but not too bright pink-watermelon. I love Muse on you! So pretty!

Rose sounds lovely! Ya know…Muse has looked incredible every time I’ve seen it. I think it’s one of those universal shades.

Muse is just gorgeous on you! I’ve been off work due to health issues and am trying to get inspired to get back in to makeup. I like the idea of working around a lip color since my rut is usually starting with the eyes!

I have to go back and forth too :) I find it hardest, but most rewarding to work around a unique blush! I think Muse is universally gorgeous. You should try it on!

What foundation are you wearing here? Thankyou for the advise on you’re reply I’m tied between nars Stromboli or becca olive as some reviews say they becca oxidises orangey? Love you’re posts :) x

I’m not positive what I’m wearing here, sorry! I haven’t had any problems with Becca oxidizing orangey. It does need to be vigorously shaken to make sure the green is mixed well. I would go to a Sephora and get a sample of both so you can test them for a few days, see them under different lights, and how they react with your skin :)
