Late to the Party: Ginnifer Goodwin’s 2013 Oscars Look

For the record, the red carpet at this year’s Academy Awards was kind of boring.  And by red carpet, I mean “faces of.”  Basically, no one’s makeup stood out.  So when I saw pictures pop up a few days later of Ginnifer Goodwin rocking a blue party dress and some serious lashes, I was shocked that I had missed it.  As it turns out, the really good makeup was saved for the after party and wasn’t even worn on the red carpet.

Oscars 2013 Ginnifer Goodwin Look

I originally saw Ginnifer’s look in an online article over at Glamour.  Yet another blue eye look that is complete perfection!  I’m seeing a trend as spring rolls around…more and more blue!  I also really like the challenge of finding a way to make more colors work for me.  My last post put vivid light blue into a day look.  Here, I’m channeling the work of Ginnifer’s makeup artist who happened to use all NARS products.  Since I don’t have all the same items, I put together my own rendition of Ginnifer’s dramatic Oscar Party look.

Oscars 2013 Ginnifer Goodwin Eye

I really should be wearing false lashes (I mean, come on, they make Ginnifer’s look as fun as it is), but when I tried to apply them, my actual lashes got rather angry and refused to cooperate.  There was even gluing of one of my eyelids…to itself.  For fear of ruining my makeup (my eyes were starting to water and my nose was running) I shrieked, gave up, and moved on.  I do have an abundance of false lashes now that need to be used.  Feel free to suggest a look.

Oscars 2013 Ginnifer Goodwin Look 2I’m beginning to feel like I’ve finally conquered blue eyes.  I do have one or two more blue looks I really want to try out, but for the most part the tricks to pulling it off remain the same:  line the waterline and use neutral shadow in the crease.

Oh, and let’s not forget those brows…fill ’em!

I love blue eye make up! With the right shade you cannot go wrong and it makes our brown eyes pop like nothing else. On her look I loved the brows the most. With her short hair she was right to go bold on her make up.

Oh her hair…don’t get me started on her hair! Someone needs to hide my scissors!

  • Larie

Love the blue eye shadow! :D

So much layering! But I love how it turned out :)

  • Kiss & Make-up

I would have gone for a slightly darker shade of blue, but I still like how it turned out.

    • Alison M

I completely agree. Ginnifer’s blue was a bit darker, but I was more concerned with winding up with a navy that would be too safe. Glad you liked the look :)

Absolutely beautiful! So much fun, Alison! You look gawgeous. I wouldn’t have thought baby blue would look good on you because you’re so warm, but it looks DIVINE! Awesome tutorial. Beauty Reflections did a baby blue look a few days ago and I got the supplies to try it for myself. Your post has underlined the fact that I need to giddy up and try it! PS: I love Revlon Soft Nude lipstick, too! It’s the perfect nude lip base!

Doesn’t Tracy do the best colorful eye looks?? I find it best to just keep layering/mixing shadows the first time around to get the color just how I want it. Have fun with your baby blues!

      • Kristen / Glambunctious

She definitely does! I see colors and think, “There’s no WAY I could pull that off.” Then I see her blog and her eyes look SLAMMIN’ and I re-think my original plan to avoid the color! Seeing the blue on you really sold it. I think I’m right between you and Tracy as far as skin color goes and it looks grande on both of y’all! :D
