While my obsession with neutrals continues (with a random bold orange lip thrown in here and there), I found some much needed color inspiration from backstage photos of NYFW.  Two of my favorite makeup looks were done by NARS artists and I thought I’d share them.  While many runway faces were androgynous and minimalistic, I was especially drawn to deep oxblood lips.

Rodarte featured a chocolate eye and deep, multi-dimensional lip and Lead Artist James Kaliardos used many of the items from the Fall 2014 collection.  All I can say is…start saving those pennies now!  The look is gorgeously spectacular and I love the artistic touches.

Then there is the lovely look from Naeem Khan that got my creative side so entranced I had to try it out for myself.

Lead Artist James Boehmer used the Gold lamè side of Kauai Duo Eyeshadow on the lids and Larger Than Life Lengthening Mascara which managed to balance the lip without requiring blush.  I used Kauai on my eyes as well (and need to get another tube of LTL Lengthening Mascara, awesome stuff!) but Afghan Red Satin Lipstick and Red Lizard Semi Matte Lipstick for a bit of a lighter look as the shades James used are from the Fall 2014 collection.  I even dabbed some of Kauai on top of my lip color to add dimension.

Last but certainly not least, I was super excited about the 3.1 Phillip Lim show because there is a nail polish collection coming out this fall!  There was one teeny tiny sneak peek and I can’t wait to see more.

Where have you found inspiration lately?
