This is the (first, second) third year attending a cocktail attire holiday party for Mr. M’s employer.  I look forward to the party annually because it is at a fabulous location with delicious food and a gift raffle like none I’ve ever seen before, but I get to be all fancy for a night. And who doesn’t like to get fancy once a year?

I opted for a smoky eye and nude lip this year to switch from two years of red and was really happy with the finished result.  Managing to wear red (China Glaze Long Kiss nail polish) green (MUG pigment), and sparkle (NARS lip gloss) without looking tacky was a lot of fun.  I wore a dress I bought up for an event in October and went with dangling earrings in lieu of a necklace, but used the same silver shoes for an overall festive look.

Enough already.  Let’s get down to the important part — the makeup!

Holiday Party Look Profile 2014

Starting with the eyes, prep with Too Faced Shadow Insurance and create a base with Makeup Geek Beaches and Cream eyeshadow.  Mix Frappe and Latte and blend through the crease.  Apply Kryptonite pigment with a damp brush to the outer 1/2 of the mobile lid.  Use a dry brush with Ardency Inn Sunday pigment for the inner 1/2 of the lid, taking the bright shimmer all the way down to the tear duct.  Blend Makeup Geek Hipster onto the center of the lids to bring the pigments together and use a small fluffy brush with a small amount of Kryptonite (dry) to sweep lightly through the outer part of the crease.  After face makeup is complete, run Taupe Notch eyeshadow under the lower lashes. Tightline with Too Faced Perfect Black eyeliner and line the upper lashes with Tarte Waterproof Liner in Black before applying INGLOT False Lash Effect Mascara.  Add Kiss Trio Lashes to the outer half of the upper lashlines as desired.

Prep skin with Urban Decay All Nighter Spray followed by NARS Pro-Prime Pore Refining Primer.  Using a damp Qosmedix sponge, blend NARS Radiant Cream Compact Foundation in Punjab all over.  Conceal with Eve Lom Brilliant Cover in Beige and brighten with Light Illusion in Wheat.  Set the face with NARS Light Reflecting Setting Powder on an OCC #001 Large Powder Brush.  Contour using Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer, then mix Hourglass Luminous Flush and Incandescent Electra Ambient Lighting blushes applying to the cheeks for glow like whoa.

Fill the brows with Senna Cosmetics Form-A-Brow in Neutral using a Brow Pro #40 brush.  Touch up any sparse areas with Sketch-a-Brow in Ash Brown and set with Brow Fix X in Golden Brown.  Line and fill the lips with NYX Nude Lip Liner.  Apply NARS Pure Matte Lipstick in Bangkok and dab NARS Soleil D’Orient Gloss on the center of the lips.  Top everything off with All Nighter Spray to keep it in place all night.
