That dreaded moment of oh-my-gosh-when-is-the-last-time-I-used-that happened recently. I was reorganizing my makeup collection (working my way through the eyeshadow palette drawer – some very tough decisions were made…I’m still recovering) and pulled out Urban Decay Naked 3 (remember this?). I ordered the palette the instant it became available and used it a ton right off the bat. But sometime around spring I started focusing more on the other Naked palettes. And spring releases. Then summer releases. But no more!
As my skin gets deeper (and deeper every time I walk outside) I wanted to play around with the rose tones again. I started off with Tarte Cream Eyeshadow in Seashell Pink for added shimmer and color. Seashell pink is very soft and almost nude, but using cream color helps powder shadows pop more (like I showed you here). I covered the inner 2/3 of my mobile lids with Trick and the outer 1/2 with Mugshot. I swept Nooner back and forth through my crease and used a small amount of Trick on my brow bones. Then I buffed Dust in tiny circles at the center of my lids for a bit more dimension before running Darkside along my upper lashlines.
For more emphasis, I added NARS Baalbek Eye Paint over the top of Darkside. Don’t ask me how I haven’t featured Baalbek thus far, but suffice it to say that you should just go buy it if you haven’t yet. Then I ran NARS Rue Bonaparte along my lower waterlines and loaded on Trish McEvoy Dramatic Lash Mascara for open eyes with fluttery fringe.
For glowing and perfected summer skin, I started out with the too-light Time Balm Foundation in Medium. I used a stippling brush and kept buffing to spread the cream into a medium coverage with a natural finish. I quickly hid my undereye circles and blemishes with NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Ginger, then brightened under my eyes with Honey and Urban Decay Trick. To set everything I buffed Becca Mineral Powder Foundation in Noisette over the top for the ultimate healthy skin finish. To bring back the tan in my skin I used NARS Laguna directly onto my cheekbones (not above and not below), heavily across the top of my forehead, and lightly along my jawline.
When it came to my lips I had one of those frustrating moments where I was imagining the perfect color, but couldn’t find it in my collection. See? There’s always a need for more! ;) This time around, I did a little playing and came up with a combination I’m really happy with. Starting with NYX Retractable Lip Liner in Nude I outlined both lips, then filled in my bottom lip. I layered NARS Mayflower over Nude and topped it all off with Trish McEvoy Sexy Nude Beauty Booster for that perfect pearl finish. As much as I whine about not having enough time in the day to reapply three lip products, there is something very satisfying in coming up with a combination like this.
After a heavy buffing of NARS Madly blush on my cheeks, it was time for the icing on the cake. The glow in this look is brought to you by Becca Shimmering Skin Perfecter Pressed in Topaz. I buffed it onto the tops of my cheekbones, outer portions of my forehead, down the bridge of my nose, and lightly at my cupid’s bow. Why aren’t more people talking about this one?! I just can’t with all the pretty!
Stay tuned for more on summer glow… But for now, have you unearthed anything from your stash recently?
