Get the Look: Dramatic Bronze and Peach

NARS Kalahari has become quite a favorite of mine recently and I wanted to kick it up a notch with a dramatic smoky eye.  I’ve also been working on eyeliner technique and was happy to put both together in one look.  I kept the eye heavy and smokey but didn’t want to go completely neutral on the rest of my face.  I instead chose items with peach tones for both the lips and cheek.  The overall is look is very dramatic and not something I’ll wear on a daily basis.  Since its creation, however, I’ve toned it down to a daytime bronze smoky eye and peach cheeks and lips and it looks lovely!  Is spring here yet?  I want more peach!

It was fun testing the limits of my typical makeup application over the last few days.  I’m working on a couple personal challenges for spring with colors I don’t normally wear and I look forward to sharing tips on making those seasonal trends work!  What are some ways you challenge your beauty routine?

  • WillWorkForMakeup

I love this look on you! Super pretty.

    • Alison M

Thanks!!! I love it too. But don’t really have anywhere I’ll wear it too, haha! Maybe I need to post the toned down daytime version I came up with :)

      • Das

Yes, please do! I think this look is one of my favorites that you’ve done, but I’m interested to see how it could be more ‘everyday’

  • BeautyReflections

LOVE it! So pretty! That Stila Color Balm looks really pigmented for a lip balm! Did you review it and I missed it?

    • Alison M

I never reviewed this shade, but I did review the product (I’ll link it at the end). I actually just bought my third one of these. I don’t know that they will be everyone’s favorite, but I love them. They are a balm, but feel more like a lipstick. And require a thin application. Like once across the lips instead of going around and around and around. Mostly though, they aren’t the stereotypical emollient feeling and I think that throws a lot of people off. Let me know if you swatch any! Just remember…think thin!

  • Meredith Karcher

YES! You look fabulous outside the ‘zone’-keep it up!

    • Alison M

Thank you, I love everything I learn from challenging myself.

  • Sarah S.

I think it’s lovely and not too dramatic at all!

    • Alison M

Thanks, Sarah. In the beauty world, it’s not so dramatic. For Alison M’s face, it’s pushing the boundaries :) But I love it because I’m finding new ways to enjoy makeup and this is definitely one of them.

  • Joyce

i still want that nars palette but really don’t need it lol grrrr

    • Alison M

Maybe you can blend shades you own to get some similar ones :)

      • Joyce

Good idea! :) i bought Blondie the other day, and I have a nars palette already that has at least one of the shades, so I should be good to go! :)
