Get the Look: A Smoky Eye with Urban Decay Naked 3

IMG_6304

I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am over rose-toned eyeshadows.  I don’t know when I got over my olive complexion being difficult and decided pink-ish hues would be my new love, but it’s become a full-blown fetish.  So yesterday at 7:00am EST when I saw Naked 3 available online, I quickly ordered.  And when it landed on my doorstep first thing this morning I was more than shocked.

I am not intending this to be a complete review, but I do want to give you a peak.  And because I am doing a look I felt it only fair to show the product and swatches so you can see exactly what shades I used.

Urban Decay Naked 3 Steal Our Look Profile

The Steal Our Look video Urban Decay shared is a fairly typical combination I expected to see.  I did steal it (above) and it is pretty, but I had something a little deeper in mind…

Urban Decay Naked 3 Smoky Eye

I was initially drawn to Naked 3 when Urban Decay finally released promo images because of Blackheart.  Seriously lovely shade.  Especially when applied wet like I did here.  But let’s start from the beginning.

Urban Decay Naked 3 Smoky Eye Eyes

After applying Urban Decay Anti Aging Primer Potion all over both lids, I used a wash of Nooner from lashline through the crease.  I used 24/7 Glide-On Pencil in Zero at the outer 1/2 of the upper lashline and smudged upwards.  I then applied Liar to the mobile lid and Mugshot to the outer 3/4.  With a damp brush I added Blackheart at the outer V and angled downward toward the center of the upper lashline.

Zero was used to tightline and along the waterline, I smudged Darkside along the outer lower lashes and Mugshot from the inner lashes meeting them in the middle.  To accentuate the browbone and lighten the inner corner I applied Strange.

Urban Decay Naked 3 Smoky Eye Profile

The look was completed with black lengthening mascara, a soft pink blush and a rosy lip color.  All about the roses.

Did you order Naked 3?  What is the most recent release that instantly had you imagining new looks?

Damn, you make a totally convincing case for this. I’m enjoying rose gold nails lately but hadn’t thought of rose gold shadows. There’s a lot more purple in this palette than I originally thought but it totally works with the roses.

I was really surprised that I like it even more in person. I think the secret to this particular look is the rosy lip color. I tried it first with the nude pink (from the look I “stole”) and it was pretty, but didn’t stand out. The mid-tone lipstick seems to make the purple tones pop more.

GORGEOUS!! I am totally sold on this palette now!

With your blue eyes, you’d better be! I keep reminding myself that pinks and purples work well with all eye colors, but I’m diggin’ the looks I’ve seen on some blue eyed girls.

Wow, the colors are gorgeous on you! I must say. I was a bit disappointed that the colors in the Naked 3 were so rosy, but you’ve kind of convinced me they might work on my skin tone. Love the look you re-created!

While these are definitely rosy shades, there is enough purple in them (especially the deeper colors) that it’s really wearable. And when in doubt, apply the roses to the lid and use a brown in the crease.

You wear this so well it’s hard not to want it! Pink shades and I generally don’t get along and no matter how many times I try rose gold eyeshadows I usually end up feeling like I look ill. The last set of swatches calls to me but I may have to wait to try it on my skin in store and see if it pulls as pink on me as it does on you. You pull off the colors beautifully!

Pinks don’t wear well on my skin either. The look I stole is only so-so on me but stunning on the UD model. I will probably have to venture outside of Naked 3 for shades like Buzz and Burnout to really shine, but overall I think this is a great palette and you could totally pull it off.

  • cpbebe

wow this is a gorgeous look! Blackheart reminds me of Laura Mercier Chocolate, from the first artist’s palette. Do you think so? I should try using mine wet to see if I can recreate a similar look.

    • http://10amBeauty.com/ Alison M

I swatched and posted to Facebook for you. Great catch!!! Chocolate is definitely brown while Blackheart is black, but the similarities are totally there. Same overtones and sparkle :)

Love the smokey purples on you! The shades in the palette aren’t really my cup of tea, but I can definitely see the appeal. Can’t wait to see what other looks you create with it. Loving the lighting, by the way :)

    • http://10amBeauty.com/ Alison M

Naked 3 definitely doesn’t scream Tiffany, but glad you like the look. And the lighting. I’m really really loving the lighting :)

  • Sarah S.

    Oooh, that is lovely indeed!

    • http://10amBeauty.com/ Alison M

Are you planning to buy it ? (Is it vegan?)

      • Sarah S.

It’s not vegan but I think I’ll tip my sister off to this look you did with it; I know she’d love it and she isn’t vegan.

OMG, Alison! These shadows look INCREDIBLE on your olive skin! I think yours are my favorite swatches because the colors play so well on you. Beautiful eye looks, Blackheart is a definite perfect fit for you! :)

The light and medium tones are definitely more of a challenge for me, but I love their uniqueness. I’m dying for the Blackheart eyeliner!!

This look is gorgeous on you! I missed getting this palette when it released so of course I want it even more now, haha. Plus it looks so stunning on you.

Thanks, Natalie! At least you can simply go to the store and buy it when it’s available. You won’t have to wait for shipping ;)
