Fake It Till You Make It: Almost Human

There has been so much sick at the M house lately.  So much sick.  Myself included and we all know that when mama ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy.  The good news is that everyone is on the up and up.  I even had a craving to heat up some frozen waffles – the way my body always tells me it’s ready to feel better – and we took a walk to pick up my daughter from school today.  AND I wore makeup.

Perhaps my favorite thing about makeup is that I can fake it till I make it.  On the gloomiest of days, in the grouchiest of moods, or even when under the weather, makeup gives me a chance to at least look pulled together.  And eventually looking pulled together let’s me feel pulled together.

After sweats, the couch, and countless cups of tea over two days (my 2-year-old has mastered the Keurig to make me hot beverages, huzzah!), my face was dying for some hydration.  After washing and loading up on Origins Plantscription Eye Cream, I went straight to my vanity.  First up was NARS Tinted Moisturizer in St. Moritz (Medium 1) for radiance, hydration, color, and SPF in one.  I used NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Ginger and Honey to brighten up the dehydrated and zombie-like circles I have going on.  My brows were filled with NARS Eyeshadow in Bali and my forehead and nose were very lightly set with NARS Light Reflecting Powder.  A coat of Wet N Wild Fergie Turn Up the Volume Mascara and Hourglass Radiant Light and Incandescent Light on the eyes.  Then Stila Peony Convertible Color on the cheeks with Buxom Divine Goddess Luminzer above for even more glow.  My lips were ready for something more than lip balm so I swiped on Too Faced Glamour Gloss in Flirt to finish things up.

I’m still popping Cinnamon Altoids to clear my sinuses (don’t knock it till you’ve tried it), but at least I look and feel ready to get off the couch.

What are your favorite products to wear after you’ve been sick?

Oh I’m so glad you are feeling better! I was sick last week and when I was finally getting over it I got the stomach flu early this week, lol. I figure that I’ve done my “sick duty” for the rest of the year (and into the next!) by now. I firmly believe mamas should not have to get sick, right?! Love your fresh look – and I really like your hair curly too!I have yet to purchase another shade in the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer – I have one shade that is too light so that is good to know you are using two as well (so I seem more normal, lol) ;)

Oh…OH! Sounds like Little D had exactly what you did! The poor boy might finally be on the end. Fortunately, I never made it to the stomach flu portion. Glad you like my curly hair, it was either blow out my hair or put on some makeup. Tough decision ;) I now have three Radiant Creamy Concealers. One winter shade, one summer shade, and one year-round brightening shade. I think I need to dedicate another post to how I use them!

You look the opposite of under the weather! I’m so glad you’re feeling better and big ups on the 2 year old learning an important new skill! WOOHOOO! Your brows, btw! Lurvies!

Exactly why I love NARS face products so much…they are my best “fake it” products :)

Mission accomplished :D Spicy foods get me breathing too, but cinnamon Altoids are portable!
