obsession with love of beauty products naturally means I own a lot of makeup, enough that I could probably cover a dozen faces for the next year or two without needing to replace anything. But it also means I end up applying a lot. After all, I should try to use up what I have…right?
But sometimes I just want a really quick look that is ultra fresh. I’ve been obsessed with this idea after seeing gorgeous advertorials for spring and I finally found the solution. Use less. Even better, to get this look you can spend less too.
The Spring 2015 makeup collection from essence offers a variety of bronzers and metallic eyeshadows that caught my attention.
I was shocked by the pigmentation of the eyeshadows and for $2.99 each, they are unbeatable! While I don’t shop drugstores much anymore (on account of not finding many cruelty free options I love), essence is proving a trip to Ulta worthwhile.
The bronzers smell amazingly of sunscreen on the beach, but the colors run a bit orange for my taste. I’d stick to the Bronzing Highlighters to get a summer glow year round. The colors of the bronzers are meant for lighter skin/blondes or darker skin/brunettes and will run you $4.99 a piece.
To get this look, apply a natural finish foundation, then conceal and powder as needed and fill your eyebrows. Using All-Round Bronzing Highlighter in 02 Sun Glow across the top of the forehead and at the cheek bones keeping most of the color to the back.Add 01 Sun Light to the tops of the cheekbones and blend well making a custom contour-blush. Apply Metal Glam Eyeshadow in Hello Goldie! heavily to the lids and blend it upward until it fades out. Add a light layer of Love Me lipstick and a few quotes of Plump No Clump volume mascara (can I just say whoa, good stuff!).
Happiness is getting a flawless look with almost no products. The looks I’ve seen recently (and have fallen hard for) were all on fair skin. I’m so glad this combination from essence is suitable for a wide range of skin tones. The bronze cheeks and pink lips really seal the deal for olive skin.
What are you fave fresh-faced products lately? Do you shop drugstore brands?
Also from essence this spring is a set of glow-in-the-dark nail stickers that I rushed to Ulta to buy for just $1.99. I know, I know, that doesn’t seem like me at all. But at the young age of 5 1/2, Little V took up nail biting! I keep her nails freshly manicured at all times to keep her from chewing them down to almost nothing. The stickers were a special treat for her hard work and self-control…she managed to grow white on the ends of all ten fingers so we repainted her nails and added hearts and fairies. Way. too. cute.
