Back in October, something magical happened. The lovely people of Cover FX realized that somehow, despite their 28 shades of foundation, they were missing some (!!!!). And so, dear friends, the same lovely people released TWELVE NEW SHADES!
That’s right, Cover FX now carries 40 shades of foundation! I’m torn between wild applause with a side of whooping and an awestruck speechlessness. The shades mostly fall to the darker end of the skin tone spectrum with P100-P125, N95 and N120, and G90-G110. But most notably for right here on 10amBeauty, we olive skinned girls have caught a major break…the G+ range.
For “those with very golden skin” (read: olive), we now have G+40, G+50, and G+60. Just over a year ago, I began experimenting with Cover FX and was quite satisfied with what they had to offer. Some of the options were close, very very close, the closest the market had to offer to my unique shade of light-medium olive.
During the suntanned months, found Total Cover Cream Foundation in G50 an excellent match. And in winter I preferred Natural Finish Foundation in G40. Now, just add a ‘+’ to those shades and they are spot. on.
As of the last two months, I’ve been wearing G+40 almost exclusively. It is mega easy to apply and blend (especially with the Cover FX Cream Foundation Brush), has buildable coverage, and is an absolute perfect match. The swatches above and demo below were taken in October (pre-diagnosis-and-house-buying/selling-moving-extravaganza) so they are on my G+50 skin.
I am super pleased with the shade, the finish, and the application. I wish the foundation lasted a little longer on me (I get about 6 hours before needing to powder and touch up) but in this case, I think it’s worth it. We all know how rare a find a true olive foundation is!
Above I’ve swatched all “perfect shades” for you (minus Becca Olive because I’m out) and Cover FX has the most obvious green tones, to which I again insert wild applause and whooping. In a perfect world, there would be a G+30 for those with lighter skin than mine who have an even more difficult olive struggle. But for now, this is the first major step I’ve seen any brand take in accommodating and, more importantly, celebrating such uniquenesses and beauty in skin. Thank you, Cover FX! We <3 you!
