Products for dry skin and hair

Winter has been harsh and I learned a lot about dry skin and hair this last season. I even got to product hunt like a mad-woman because Little D had eczema on his face and hands and nothing seemed to help. There is nothing like product hunting when its to help one of my kids. It was a whole new side of being desperate for the right products and really put things into perspective for me. After all the failed creams, balms, and oils I bought and tried for Little D, I’ve been a lot happier and content with things that work for me – like these:

Yes to Liquid Hand Soap – First things first, no more SLS! I first took SLS out of our skin and hair products last year when I tried the Yes to Coconut Oil Body Wash on my kids and noticed their skin wasn’t dry anymore. Yes to recently came out with liquid hand soaps that I really enjoy. The only downside is that the Blueberry Shea makes me hungry. No joke!

Theorie Argan Oil Ultimate Reform Hair Serum – I noticed my hair looking dry on day 3 after washing. It was the opposite of the norm as I certainly didn’t get oily. But – my hair wasn’t really dry-damaged, just dry from the weather. I like adding the Theorie Hair Serum to the ends first, then work up 2-3″ to make my hair look refreshed.

Theorie Helichrysum Nourishing Shampoo – For the first time in ages, I experienced mild flaking this winter. Typically, I condition my scalp as well as my hair, let it sit for 5 minutes, then rinse and very lightly shampoo just my scalp. When I needed to up my game from the usual Argan Oil hair care products (I’m pretty sure all the extra coffee was to blame…), the lovely team at Theorie suggested I try Helichrysum products. I went out and bought the shampoo immediately (I had purchased the deep conditioner prior to that) and loved the results! My scalp was happy, my hair was happy, and the smaller size bottle is perfect for limited use.

Cover FX Illuminating Primer – Sometimes my skin just needs a little extra perkiness. I love that this is silicone-free so I don’t get shiny throughout the day, but it is still a lovely base under foundation.

Eve Lom Brilliant Cover Concealer – It doesn’t matter how dry my undereyes get, Eve Lom can handle it. I use the eye cream (which I use more of when my skin is thirsty), Brilliant Cover Concealer (super creamy and doesn’t look cakey), and top it with Light Illusion Concealer. None of my other concealers can stay smooth all day when my skin is feeling parched.

Yes to Blueberries Age Repair Face and Neck Oil – Little D and I both use this. I previously used a much more expensive oil when his cheeks would get chapped, but Yes to Blueberries is more affordable and he loves the smell! We call it “the donut oil” because it really smells like freshly baked donuts. It is thicker than many other oils so one or two drops goes a really long way. It healed Little D’s eczema on his cheeks and it is an amazing boost for my nightly moisturizer.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream – I recently shared my morning routine, but the real hydration for me comes right before bed. I like that Ultra Repair Cream is a huge jar without the huge price tag. It doesn’t have all the bells and whistles, but coupling it with the Yes to Blueberries Oil a couple times a week is still holding off the wrinkles.
