Chocolate, Coffee, and Too Faced

Three of my favorite things in life:  Chocolate, coffee, and makeup.  So why on earth did it take me so long to buy the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette?  Probably because Too Faced eyeshadows and I have a history of fall-out and hit-and-miss color pay-off.  The Chocolate Bar, however, is a completely different story.  I should have guessed this as it shares similarities to the Chocolate Soleil Bronzer (that I love), but I’m done kicking myself and I’ve moved on to simply enjoying the awesomeness that is this eyeshadow palette.

I’ve done a lot of playing with the red-browns in this palette and really enjoy them in a smoky eye.  For this look I primed my lids with Too Faced Shadow Insurance.  I began the color by patting Marzipan on the inner 2/3 of my mobile lid.  Then I used Salted Caramel in my crease.  I used a small amount of Haute Chocolate on the outer 1/2 of my mobile lid before building Amaretto in the outer ‘v.’ Then I deepened the outer ‘v’ with Cherry Cordial and used White Chocolate as a browbone highlight.  Black Forest Truffle was brushed along my lower lashes for definition.  I lined my waterlines and upper lashline with Too Faced Perfect Eyes Perfect Espresso before buffing Black Forest Truffle along the top edge of the eyeliner.

It was only natural to contour with Too Faced Chocolate Soleil bronzer.  Then I added a touch of NARS Madly to my cheeks and I chose Tarina Tarantino Gem Gloss in My Pretty to finish the look.

True story:  I keep a stash of emergency chocolate for those really bad days.  It all started last year a couple weeks before Easter.  I was going through a difficult time as a stay-at-home-mom and, with nothing else to turn to in a desperate moment of need, I broke into the Easter candy.  Cream filled eggs, to be exact.  I stood in my closet (to hide from the kids) and cried while drowning my sorrows in raspberry cream and dark chocolate.

I now prefer chocolate bars so I can break off one square at a time and put the bar back in its hiding place.  Bonus points that my current guilty pleasure is coffee flavored.  This means Mr. M wouldn’t want to eat it (if he ever found it) and it tastes amazing with a second cup of coffee while Littles V and D have quiet time in their bedrooms.

But now I have even more chocolate comfort at the ready when I need it.  Thanks Too Faced!

Chocolate and coffee is an amazing combination! And the look you created with this palette is just as great.

It’s 8:52am. I don’t *need* the chocolate, but I might snag a piece anyway when I make my coffee this morning :)

What a really gorgeous look. You have mad skillz ;). I don’t have this palette; we can’t get Too faced in the Netherlands. I did buy the revamped neutral eye palette, whatsitcalled, from Sephora online and am pretty pleased with it. Something extremely silly puts me off the Chocolate Bar palette, and I can’t get past it: I really hate the light pink and the lavender shades it contains. They are, to me, such tacky old lady shades that I wouldn’t want to there LOL. Just don’t post too many more looks :p.

Thanks, Bella :) I’m typically not a fan of soft pink or lavender eyeshadows either. They can add the right touch to a look, but I’ve never been able to really make them look. However, I’m going to give them a go with Chocolate Bar. I can’t help myself…I see them as a challenge and *must* find a way to use them! ;)

This palette is *so* gorgeous. I’m hungry now though! For chocolate. Lots of chocolate. But it’s midday here so I should probably eat something ‘real’ for lunch.

    But chocolate!

I have sympathy for your true story – I don’t have kids (OMG full respect for stay at home mums!!), but there have been some bad times as a PhD student, when you’re in the lab at 3 am for the millionth night in a row and everything breaks and you kind of just lock yourself in the laser room and cry. I only had hot chocolate on hand, but it was better than nothing, LOL!

I think everyone needs emergency chocolate for those really dire situations! Although it sounds much cooler to lock yourself in the laser room than the closet ;)

Whoa now, cappuccino flavored chocolate…??? I’m afraid I’m going to need to track some of that down! Best of both worlds! And yes, I agree – the Chocolate Bar palette is awesome. So many beautiful options! I need to break off a piece of that proverbial makeup kit kat bar tomorrow! :D

I’m super impressed with the formula Too Faced created and it makes me want to try the new Cat Eyes Palette.
