On the heels of the new Spring Color Collection by NARS comes a simple neutral palette. And God Created the Woman is an eye palette consisting of six regular line neutral eye shadows. Any neutral lover can delight at the combination of shades NARS chose to include here. It’s also easy to appreciate the portability of this palette and the possibility of one day hitting pan. Each shade is .03oz/1g which is less than half of the .07oz/2.2g in a NARS eyeshadow single. Also included are a mini Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Primer and a short-handled #3 Eye Shader Brush.
Top Row: Alhambra, Bellisima, Kalahari / Bottom Row: Galapagos, Coconut Grove, Night Clubbing
A closer look at the shadows shows two matte shades in the middle, two shimmer shades on the left and right in the top row, and two glitter-infused mattes on the left and right of the bottom row. I like the mix of these six shades and how the mix of textures and unique tones give limitless personality.
L to R: Alhambra, Bellisima, Kalahari, Galapagos, Coconut Grove, Night Clubbing
The texture of NARS eyeshadows is the same as other powder products by the brand. They are pigmented without being soft and creamy. When swatched with a finger, the shadows resemble the texture of a block of chalk but they blend far more easily. I like the versatility of every shade and have been wearing a lot of Alhambra and Galapagos (as seen below). Alhambra is a gorgeous highlighting or all over shade. Bellisima is a matte taupe that even works for those with warm skin tones. Kalahari is especially fun to wear in the center of the lid and its appearance shifts with different lighting. I was initially a bit hesitant with Galapagos and Night Clubbing because they look far more glittery in the pan. But when worn, the glitter is very subtle and only adds a bit of light to the eyes. Coconut Grove is a matte cool blackened brown. It looks streaky when swatched with a finger, but buffs out easily with a brush.
I was struck by the beauty of And God Created the Woman from the moment I first saw it. Each shade has a place in my collection that is unmatched by any of my other palettes. I highly recommend it to women who like one go-to eye palette, those who favor neutrals, and anyone who likes that “little bit of extra gorgeous” to otherwise basic shades.
