I was feeling very “girls just wanna have fun” and decided to try out glitter. Yes, it’s summer. Yes, it was a week day afternoon. No, I didn’t have anywhere to go. I just felt like it. So I did it. Which is exactly what makeup is all about!
Glitter and I have an unhappy history, thanks to my unwillingness to go wherever the brush lead me (and of course fall out never helped). But I’ve reached a point where I wanted a new challenge. There are a few important steps I took that made all the difference.
- When using glitter, always start with the eyes.
- A wet flat brush makes it easier to grab and place the glitter.
- Tap. Never sweep.
- Clean up the rest of the face with a makeup wipe.
- Use a makeup setting spray to help the glitter stay in place.
To start the eyes I prepped with Too Faced Shadow Insurance. Then I used theBalm Nude ‘Tude to create a smoldering summer nights smoky eye. I started with Seductive all over the mobile lid and Sultry in the crease. I mixed Sexy and Sleek to emphasize the outer ‘v’ of each lid and Snobby to highlight the inner corners. NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadow in Sycorax was used in lieu of a typical eyeliner at the upper lashes. Then I patted the brown shade from Sonia Kashuk Showstopper Eyeshadow Quad onto the inner 2/3 of each mobile lid. I tightlined my upper and lower waterlines with NARS Via Veneto and ran theBalm Silly close to my lower lashes. I also went back in with Seductive to smudge out the lower lashline. I chose INGLOT False Lash Effect Mascara and Ardell 301 false lashes to complete the eyes.
I went with NARS Matte Multiple in Siam for my cheeks, applying it with a damp sponge. Because I was wearing a bright coral top, I kept my lips neutral – NYX Nude Lip Liner, Too Faced La Creme In the Buff, and Trish McEvoy Sexy Nude Lip Gloss.
